Matthias is an Associate Professor in history at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. Before that he was Postdoctoral Fellow at the Freie Universität Berlin and a Research Fellow at Zentrum Moderner Orient. He is the author of “Islam, Science Fiction and Extraterrestrial Life” and “Space Science and the Arab World”.
